Title IX Update

01.27.2022

Moody Leadership announces new Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Response Policy, Director, and Website

Dear Moody Family,

As we continue to kick off this new year and new semester, we are pleased to share an update on our improvements to our Title IX office.

Following an extensive candidate interview process, we are incredibly grateful to welcome Mark Griffin to Moody as our new, full-time Director of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention and Response/Title IX Coordinator. Mark served as an Assistant Inspector General for the City of Chicago since 2018, directing investigations of misconduct, including allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and retaliation. Prior to that role, he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for 10 years, where he investigated and prosecuted hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases, including cases involving sexual assault, sexual abuse, stalking, and intimidation. Mark is also deeply committed to Christian service, as he has served in leadership in his churches’ worship teams for many years. Rachel Campbell will continue to serve in the Title IX office as the full-time Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

In addition, a new Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Response Policy was crafted by a Moody team that included HR, Legal, Student Life, and the Title IX Office in consultation with Grand River Solutions (GRS). Resting on our commitment that trust and care for our students must be at the center of our Title IX process, our new policy includes improved procedures reflecting our 11 strategic commitments released last year in response to GRS’ final recommendations, clarity in reporting and resolution procedures, and expanded personnel and support of our Title IX office. We will be rolling out mandatory training on the new policy across Moody beginning spring 2022.

To improve communication and transparency around our Title IX policies and processes, we have also launched a new website to serve as a resource for our campus community. The site includes key resources, including information on reporting, as well as our updated progress report, GRS’ final recommendations, and Moody’s strategic commitments. The website is available here: https://www.moody.edu/titleix/

Please continue to pray for our Moody community as we welcome Mark Griffin, and work together to promote a culture in which students, faculty, and staff are equipped for growth, safety, and success on our campus.

In Christ,

Dr. Mark Jobe
