IL Governor Executive Order

08.31.2021

Information for employees and students regarding Executive Order 2021-20

Dear Moody Family,

As you may have heard during President’s Chapel today, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed an executive order on August 26, 2021, that requires public and private colleges adhere to a statewide mandate regarding face coverings and COVID-19 vaccination. This state mandate impacts students and employees working or enrolled at Moody Bible Institute’s Chicago campus.

Section 4 of Governor Pritzker’s mandate states, in relevant part, the following:

“All Higher Education Personnel and Higher Education Students must have, at a minimum, the first dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine within 10 days after issuance of this Executive Order, and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 within 30 days following administration of their first dose in a two-dose vaccination series.”

Moody leadership seeks to respect and honor everyone’s personal choice and religious convictions about the vaccination, while maintaining the health and safety of our staff and students, and compliance with state laws. Therefore, we support your right to apply for available medical or religious exemptions from the vaccination mandate. We have a simple exemption application process. We will distribute the exemption instructions and forms to our students and employees tomorrow.

Since the beginning of this global pandemic, we have faced many challenges together and your health and wellbeing remains our top priority. God has remained faithful throughout, and you have persevered with patience. Thank you! As we face this latest challenge, like Paul, let’s rejoice in hope, be patient, and constant in prayer (Romans 12:12).

Let me reiterate that while we will follow this executive order, we will do so in a way that respects and honors your rights and personal choice, and minimizes the disruption to your time at Moody.

Vaccination Clinic: If you are interested in receiving a vaccine, the next clinic on our Chicago campus will be offered on Thursday, September 9, 2021, in ASC1. More information to come.

Prayerfully,

Dr. Mark Jobe
President
