Title IX Firm Announced

Dear Moody Family,

Thank you for your prayers during this challenging season. We have been seeking the Lord and doing extensive due diligence as to who should serve as our third-party independent investigator.

Moody Bible Institute has retained Grand River Solutions, a national consulting firm, to conduct a swift and thorough review of our Title IX and related practices for responding to reports of sexual misconduct. Grand River Solutions’ team has extensive experience with Title IX and assisting faith-based institutions with these matters, and will be led by Chantelle Cleary and Kelly Gallagher.

Grand River Solutions will immediately launch the investigation, beginning with a comprehensive examination of Moody’s Title IX policies and procedures and Moody’s response to past reports of sexual misconduct. During the investigation, Grand River Solutions will interview individuals with relevant knowledge of reported sexual misconduct and Moody’s response to such reports. The interviews will include current and former members of the Moody community. Grand River Solutions’ experienced investigation team has expertise in investigating issues related to sexual misconduct using a trauma-informed approach.

Even if you have already shared your experience with someone at Moody, or previously felt unable to share your experience, we encourage you to contact Grand River Solutions to ensure your experiences and concerns are included in their investigation.

Among the goals of this independent investigation are to:

• Gain an understanding of the concerns raised in October by a letter sent to Dr. Mark Jobe.
• Evaluate Moody’s response to past reports of sexual misconduct.
• Strengthen our policies and practices, and our community’s approach to these issues.  

We recognize our community’s pain on this issue and want to hear your experiences. We remain committed to ensuring all of our campuses are safe for all of our students, to taking seriously all reports of sexual misconduct, and to following through in a caring manner in addressing those reports.

We commit to sharing with you Grand River Solutions’ recommendations to Moody resulting from the investigation.
