Founder’s Week 2018

Moody Bible Institute’s 117th Founder’s Week will take place Feb. 5– 9, and focus on the theme “One New People.”

"In Ephesians 2:14–15, the Apostle Paul talks about the reality of a new entity: a church comprised of people who were formerly estranged from each other,” said Greg Thornton, interim president and senior vice president, media of Moody Bible. “This is a rich passage, bringing truths about the church, unity, peace and Christ’s work all together.” 

Founder’s Week continues to honor the Feb. 5th birthday of Dwight Lyman Moody, 19th century evangelist and founder of Moody. It features worship, music, fellowship and teaching from today’s foremost Christian leaders.

Monday’s opening session will start with James Meeks, pastor of Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. Pastor Meeks also serves on Moody’s Board of Trustees. Main session speakers include Ed Stetzer, Anne Graham Lotz, James Ford, Matt Chandler, Ralph West, and Tony Merida. Afternoon workshops will be led by Moody faculty and students.

“Moody Founder's Week is the nation's premier Bible conference,” said Anne Graham Lotz. “I'm honored and humbled to participate, and eagerly anticipate the blessing I will receive from hearing the other speakers.”

Morning sessions (9:30 a.m.) will take place on Moody Bible Institute’s Chicago campus in Torrey-Gray Auditorium, while evening sessions (7 p.m.) will be held at The Moody Church. Community Music will be leading worship several times, and Moody student leaders and ensembles will also perform throughout the week.

The Festival of Praise will take place on Tuesday evening and feature all of Moody’s music ensembles with student worship leaders. More information will be announced on the Founder’s Week website and Facebook page.

More Ways to Be a Part of Founder’s Week

For those unable to attend in person, evening sessions will be broadcast from 7 to 9 p.m., CST, on Moody Radio owned and operated stations. There will also be a live video stream of all Founder’s Week sessions at www.foundersweek.org, and a live audio stream of the morning sessions on Moody Radio’s Proclaim channel at www.proclaimradio.org. Sessions will also be posted on Moody’s official YouTube Channel.

Alumni Activities on Campus

Activities on Alumni Day (Tuesday, Feb. 6) will include the Alumni banquet, at noon, an all alumni dessert reception and class reunions at 2:30 p.m., and presentations of the “Alumnus of the Year” and “Faculty Citation” awards. No registration is required to attend Founder’s Week, and both attendance and parking are free.
