The following statement was released today by Moody Bible Institute’s interim president, Greg Thornton:
“The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released their preliminary report today about the crash involving a Moody Aviation aircraft on July 13. You can access this report at the NTSB website.
In this brief, three-page report the NTSB provides facts gathered during the initial phase of their investigation. Please note that this report contains no conclusive analysis, nor does it discuss probable cause. In addition, the NTSB could alter this report and correct any information at any time based on their ongoing investigation.
The NTSB will continue to investigate, and we are told that it could take up to a year or more for them to prepare a final report that will contain their official description of the accident and their determination of the probable cause. To learn more about the NTSB investigation process, please visit their Investigative Process web page.
Moody has been and will continue to cooperate fully with the NTSB’s investigation. Please understand that throughout the investigation, we will not be provided information by the NTSB to share with the Moody community. Therefore, I ask that as a community we be patient, not speculate or engage in rumor, and wait upon the Lord.
Thank you for your continued love and expressions of kindness and compassion toward the families of Joochan (Austen) Lee, Diego Senn, and Andrew Trouten. Their families, and our entire Moody Aviation community, have expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude.
Finally, I would like to express my appreciation to our Moody Aviation program manager, Jim Conrad, for his leadership at this hour. He and his staff continue to respond in a godly and professional manner, and I am truly grateful for them.”
