With his term beginning at the regular Board of Trustees meeting in May 2018, Mark Flannery was elected as the newest trustee for Moody Bible Institute.
An entrepreneur who started his career as a sales executive in the baby-products industry, Mr. Flannery founded Regalo International, one of the leading brands of baby products in the world. In addition, Mark and his family own and operate Carlson Pet Products and a real estate holding company.
Flannery’s connection to Moody over the years has been multifaceted. His in-laws were both graduates of Moody Bible Institute, and he and his wife, Wendy, have been faithful supporters of Moody for many years. While they were living in Chicago, they were avid listeners of Moody Radio, and regularly attended Moody Bible Institute’s Friday sings and concerts.
“Mark and Wendy have built a successful international business, exercising their faith in biblical principles found in God’s Word,” said Randy Fairfax, chair of the Board of Trustees. “They are deeply committed to prayer and keeping the Bible as the inerrant foundation of truth. Mark brings strong business acumen and a pastor’s heart with biblical training as well. He and Wendy are prayer warriors and seek to serve the Lord with all He brings before them.”
Flannery, who trusted Christ at the age of 17, has been active in leadership in the church where he and his family attend, and is involved in other ministry efforts as well. A native of Pennsylvania, Mark grew up and attended school in the Philadelphia area then relocated to the Minneapolis area. He attended Pensacola Christian College, as well as Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania.
“Wendy and I are in awe of Moody’s tremendous legacy, and how the Lord has preserved the steadfast adherence to sound biblical doctrine for more than a century,” said Flannery. “This is a clear demonstration of God’s faithfulness to His promises. I am humbled by the invitation to be a part of the Lord carrying Moody into the 21st century, and remember our Savior’s words in John 15:55 that apart from Him we can do nothing will continue to guide me in my service.”
He and Wendy have been married for 35 years, and have three children and six grandchildren. Flannery enjoys time with his grandkids, road biking, and holds a license as a private pilot. They reside in Longboat Key, Florida.
