Moody Radio Vice President Retiring

09.07.2021

After 40 years at Moody Radio, Doug Hastings to retire as vice president in February 2022

After 40 years of service, vice president of Moody Radio, Doug Hastings, will retire in February 2022.

“While I am incredibly sad to see Doug go and will miss his leadership and presence, all of us at Moody are deeply grateful for his incredible legacy and impact,” said Mark Wagner, chief operating officer at Moody Bible Institute. “Doug has not only been a valued member of the Moody Radio family all these years, but he is a proud alum of Moody Bible Institute and has represented us extremely well. Everyone at Moody joins me in praying for Doug as he enters this new season of life and ministry.”

In 1979, Hastings graduated with a diploma in communications from Moody Bible Institute and went on to finish his education at Columbia College in Chicago with a B.A. in radio and television. Several years later he came to Moody Radio and served in Network Development. Among other roles, he served as operations manager, production manager, and eventually general manager, which he held before being named vice president in 2018.

“When I made my initial two-year commitment in 1981, to serve at Moody Radio in the Network Development department, I had no idea it would lead to four decades of fulfilling ministry through Moody Radio,” said Hastings. “God has truly blessed Moody Radio with a great team who shares the gospel with boldness, and are passionate about helping our listeners take their next step with Jesus Christ. I am fully committed to finish strong, and help leadership bring in the next person to lead Moody Radio. I am grateful to everyone at Moody for the honor of serving all these years.”

Hastings’ accomplishments and impact throughout the past 40 years is extensive. He was particularly instrumental in the expansion of Moody Radio’s network in the 1980’s, growth of live network programming and coverage, and forging high impact partnerships with various organizations and ministries. Under his leadership, Moody Radio expanded its reach to more than 700 affiliates and added five digital streams, transitioned to the state-of-the-art Chapman Center, and expanded to Ashtabula, Nashville, and Charleston.

Today, Moody Radio is respected as an industry leader and a trusted voice, and has grown to include more than 70 full-power stations and translators, six digital channels, a podcast network, and more than 1,500 outlets that carry its programming, reaching millions of listeners through terrestrial stations and digital platforms.

The search for Moody Radio’s new vice president is underway. Hastings will continue to serve in his role until mid-February 2022.
